Are you planning an I Do BBQ couples shower and are wondering where to start?

I am here to help. I just got done planning a super fun and laid-back BBQ couples shower for my brother and his fiancée. It was super fun, and I wanted to share all the details in hopes that it will help someone else. 🎉

My theme was BBQ, but I wanted to add a bit of a blue vintage vibe to it as well. She loves the vintage vibe, and he is a big chess player, so I wanted to incorporate them into the couple's shower.

I knew that adding lights to our backyard would bring the cozy but chill vibes I wanted the party to be, and we already had a backdrop I could use, so it only made sense to set that up and add a balloon garland.

I also happen to have an Etsy shop where I make wooden signs for parties and home decor, so I had to make a sign to add to the backdrop. If you would like your own custom wood sign for your next party, send me an email or contact me via my Etsy shop. My Etsy shop is called Liz's Wood Designs.

Now that we have the vibe all set, let's talk about the menu. (Spoiler: I kept it simple!)

Menu: Burgers & all the fixings, hot dogs, french fries, cake & cupcakes, ice cream sandwiches & drumsticks, punch, and water. We had a s'mores station for people who wanted to roast marshmallows around the fire. Super fun!

We grilled the burgers and hot dogs (which, fun fact, the grill decided that night of all nights, to not work - talk about adding a little stress to the evening. 😂), my sister-in-law made the french fries, and my mom brought all the burger fixings. This was super helpful because it gave me all the time to focus on the cake and cupcakes.

I made a vanilla cake with lemon filling and vanilla buttercream icing and topped it with blueberries and mint. For the cupcakes, I did a chocolate cupcake with vanilla buttercream and topped it with blueberries and mint.

This is one of my favorite cakes I've made yet. It was simple to decorate and super delicious.

The cake topper was the best way for me to incorporate the chess factor I mentioned earlier. I made it out of wood, and it was the perfect, simple cake topper.

Did I miss any details you are wondering about? Leave me a comment if you have any questions.
